Supna Kumar is a comedic anomaly. By day, she is a mild mannered self-disciplined freelance writer. By nightfall, she suits up as the funny Indian lady. She wears no dot on her forehead as she is not married and if the occasion calls for her to dress in a sari, she can borrow one- but her comedy comes from her secret identity now gone “Facebook.” She unveils her nontraditional and non conformist alternative lifestyle known to her heritage in career choice AND whom she chooses to love.
Sapna has been seen as a featured comic on LOGO TV's "One Night Stand Up 9" and as Regional Finalist on NBC's "Last Comic Standing 4." She is an accomplished actress and highlighted in the independent feature films "Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together" and "Promise Land."
Sapna's act tells the story of her coming out experience to her Indian parents, and her journey of gaining acceptance from them after 17 years of being “different.” Her mother asks: “Sapna, you know why you are a gay? It’s because you don’t eat enough fruit!” There is a cure.
Supna puts her intellectual twist into jokes about the economy and giving "time-management tips" to the unemployed. Alternatively, she gives quips to the employed- great ways to “Tweet” yourself out of your career.
